IO House, an elegant yet playful family home, triumphed in the categories of Residential Property for London and Architecture Single Residence for London. The awards celebrate the very best of architecture and design across the UK.
Where contemporary architecture, sophisticated interior design and smart tech meet, this ultra-contemporary retreat is an exemplar of what we refer to as the Gamification of Architecture.
Pushing the boundaries of technology and product innovation within architecture and interior design, IO House is brimming with unexpected encounters and experiences. Digital walls, hologram art, floating, interactive and programmable stairs with audio visual effects and two interactive slides, complete with motion sensitive iris portal, add to the focus on fun.
A refined, monochrome colour palette and subtle mix of texture, material and light provide a cool backdrop for these pops of colour, theatre and mischief.
Located in a Conservation Area, the architecture is respectful of community, heritage and environment. There is a sharp focus on sustainability and the house is off-grid. It is an exemplar of sustainable design and engineering.
