A key aspect of the project was reorienting the home to embrace its secluded garden, creating a light-filled oasis while enhancing its street presence with a repositioned entrance. The design introduces additional accommodation through thoughtful extensions, featuring contemporary glazing to brighten underlit spaces and create inviting family areas like reading seats. To secure planning, the extensions were tactically designed to remain minimally visible from the street, preserving the conservation area’s character.
Sustainability was a core client priority, integrating heat pumps, solar panels, and biodiverse planting alongside the use of sustainable materials. The result is a home that meets both modern living needs and strict conservation guidelines.
This success reflects 18 months of collaboration, balancing the client’s vision with the council’s heritage requirements. We’re proud to have found a solution that enhances the home’s character while delivering a beautiful, secluded contemporary extension.
