We were recently appointed by a family of five to review and improve the connectivity of rooms within their lovely detached house in Belsize Park. The ground floor formal reception room was isolated from the garden by a large stepped terrace leading to a lower ground floor kitchen and small family space. The brief was to improve the flow and create new larger family spaces for entertaining and growing teenagers. The solution was to enlarge the existing lower ground floor terrace and then enclose it to create a new internal space. This relocated the terrace to the upper floor enabling the formal reception to flow directly into the garden through new tall fully glazed doors. These replaced a bay window and flood the room with light. At lower ground floor the extension provides an additional family room with gaming area, dining area and kitchenette
