The Bishops Penthouse

Project Type : FF&E / Private Home

Services : Interior Design | FF&E

Location : North London

Photography : Max Trafford

Status : Complete

Working with a mix of treasured antiques, artworks and contemporary pieces, the interiors were carefully developed to feel cohesive without appearing overly styled. New elements sit quietly alongside the clients’ collection, creating a home that feels personal and evolved over time.

In the principal living space, sculptural furniture and expressive artwork bring character against a quieter architectural backdrop. Integrated shelving provides space for books, ceramics and collected objects, while the marble fireplace and statement coffee table introduce a stronger material presence.

Bespoke joinery was designed throughout to provide generous storage while maintaining a sense of calm and openness. Timber, richly figured stone, tactile fabrics and subtle metalwork establish a warm material palette, with carefully considered details recurring from room to room.

The same approach continues into the bedrooms and dressing areas, where softer textures and bespoke furniture create more intimate spaces. Colour is introduced with restraint, from deep greens and warm terracotta to muted blues, giving each room its own identity while maintaining a consistent language throughout the penthouse.

“Our approach was to create a home that felt collected rather than designed all at once. The clients already had wonderful pieces with their own stories, so it was about bringing those together with new bespoke elements, beautiful materials and carefully considered details to create a sense of continuity throughout the apartment.”
Michelle Sweeney, Director of Interiors, KSR Architects & Interior Designers

A richer use of colour gives the bedroom its own distinct character, with the terracotta upholstered headboard creating a warm backdrop to the space. Bespoke timber furniture, natural stone and aged brass accents layer texture and detail while maintaining the considered language of the wider interior.
