KSR Architects has won permission to replace a large house on an L-shaped site with two luxury family houses in St John’s Wood.
23b Grove End Road is situated behind 23a Grove End Road. The semi-detached 500 sq.m dwellings are on three floors, including a single basement level with individual car stackers providing space for two cars.
A contemporary design approach is used on the front faade to give each five bedroom house a polished signature and identity while providing a cohesive design that has presence. A hand-made, dark brick is proposed, not dissimilar to that found in the neighbourhood; although longer and thinner in proportion to complement the contemporary design. Sections of hardwood cladding add extra warmth to the developments frontage and links creatively with the garden design.
A green roof is incorporated on the main roof. The development will also incorporate measures to significantly reduce the energy demand through passive measures including solar photovoltaic cell panels on the roof, and low energy building services system.
KSR Architects has worked on over 30 developments in the St John’s Wood area and is currently working on 10 extra opportunities.
